TRUSTING IN GOD’S PRESENCE Acts 2:17-18
17 " 'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.’”

PENTECOST AND MOTHERS
I remember the first time my mother left me for a day. I thought the world was coming to an end. I felt as though she would never come back. All of us can relate to the disciples on that first Pentecost. The disciples were gathered together, frightened, wondering how to go on without their beloved master. Yet Jesus told them they were not going to be alone for long. God’s Spirit is with us always in the dark days, confusing days, and lonely days. God shows us this in the form of mothers. They protect, guide, comfort, and show compassion just as the Holy Spirit does. God pours out God’s Spirit in our lives in various ways and through various people. God’s Spirit can be poured out through a mother figure, mentor, friend, or role model.

Happy Mother’s Day and happy Pentecost!!

Action Step: Be a positive presence to someone who does not have a mother.
Lord, thank you for your gift of the Holy Spirit and mothers who show your presence.
Amen --- Sandy Rhoades, Fairfax, Missouri

COMMUNITY LIFE

CUB SCOUTS
Riverside is attempting to answer an expressed need from the North Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America, by re-organizing our Cub Scout Pack. Cub Scouting is designed for boys, grades 1-5. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to help boys receive citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. An orientation meeting will be held in May. Leadership will then be identified and trained and boys signed into membership, all in the effort to
be up and running when the next school year begins. Please contact Roger Maness at the church office 355-4585 or roger.maness@rpcjax.org. if your son would be interested and especially if you would be willing to attend the  orientation meeting.

FRIDAYS ARE FOR FUN —AND GOLF, TOO!
It is time to mark your calendars for those fun, Friday afternoon golf outings. Each date is complete with good fellowship, prizes for such categories as closest to the pin and longest drive, getting to know other church members better, and lots of
fun! The remaining dates are May 16, and May 30. Plan to play and to invite a non-Riverside friend to join in on the fun! May 16 Hyde Park Golf Club, May 30 The Golf Club at South Hampton. Please call 355-4585 to sign up.
