Riverside Presbyterian Church has a heart for mission! We understand that the joyous energy of our worship, music and congregational life together means little unless we extend it beyond our doors and into the world in which we live and work.
Riverside Presbyterian Church is active with our three public neighborhood elementary schools. These photographs are from this year’s Field Day at Central Riverside Elementary, where 460 students participated in 15 different stations of games and activities. As the sticker placed on each child said, “If you had fun, you won”!
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local church group has reached out to children in a troubled apartment complex by showing the youngsters how to swing for the fences and much more.
For the past six years, Roger Maness of Riverside Presbyterian Church and a group of volunteers have brought the game of baseball to inner city kids with a program called RBI -- reviving baseball in the inner cities.
This year, the group decided to run a weeklong baseball camp at the Cleveland Arms Apartments in Northwest Jacksonville with goal of reviving the sport in the inner city.
For residents of Cleveland Arms the sound of gunfire is not uncommon, but this week people there have been hearing another loud pop -- the crack of a bat striking a ball.

Okay, answer these questions. Do you like to get some exercise that is not too strenuous? Do you like to hear good, live music? Do you like to be with people you know and also meet new friends? Do you like to have fun?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, please mark your calendar and consider coming to our Folk and Contra Dance. It happens every third Friday of the month in Kissling Hall. Beginning at 7:45 p.m. there is a beginner lesson, followed by the dance at 8 p.m. Although the dances are simple (the steps are walking movements…a small amount of rhythm puts you at the top of the class), there is instruction before every dance.
Most of the dances are done in Contra sets (two lines), but occasional circle sets are also included. Either way, the dances are easy, taught as you go, and no prior dancing is needed. Also, bringing a partner is not required! Come join us for a fun evening, dancing with great instruction to live music! Cost is $7 per person for adults and $3 per person for persons 18 or younger.
Visit www.DanceFlorida.com or call Carole Wetzel at 904-396-1997 for more information.

What is Riversiders? It is a potluck dinner; it is open to adults of all ages; it is good fellowship; it is fun! What “not” is Riversiders? Riversiders is not a regularly-meeting group. So, invite another Riverside member (or guest), bring a dish, and join in the food, fun, and fellowship!

Call Bob or Jayne Runnels (374-1913) or Roger Maness (355-4585) if you have suggestions or would like to help plan this new and exciting adventure.
